The Namesake

Ever had one of those days when you just feel like shutting yourself off from the world? I've been having those kinda days lately. What i'll give to be whisked away to a secluded island with no contact with the outside world. *tension*

*ok enough whining*

I just finish reading this book by Jhumptha Lahiri called 'The Namesake'. It's about this son of an imigrant called Gogol. He was named after Nikolay Gogol, a Russian author.

Well, much to my suprise I found out that Director Mira Nair ('Monsoon Wedding') decided to adapt this novel into a movie. In fact it premiered on September 11 (ironic eh?) in Toronto.

This ain't a love story. This ain't a happy-ever-after story. This ain't those feel good movies. This novel is about the truth and the obstacles and challenges that life throws at us. I would recommend a read if you're free or better still watch the movie! The Namesake

Better get back to my next book. 'Bangkok Tattoo'
